We have a few options you can choose from:

Complete one of the options from ‘How to organize a calibration?’

You can send us your instrument, or drop it into us during business hours

If urgent, let us know and we can offer an expedited service for an additional fee

Once the instrument arrives we will send you a formal quotation for your approval. (or seek approval in person)

You can contact us at any time for a status update

After your approval we will perform the quoted works.

Standard turn around is 1 week.

This will vary with work loads but we are often faster than that, calibrations are typically worked on in order of receival/approval

When completed we will send you an invoice for payment.

If you are on a ‘30 day trade account’ then we will process as per your PO or agreement.

After payment is cleared (or PO is processed for account customers), we will inform you that the goods can be collected, or if you have opted for shipping we will typically dispatch same or next business day.

You can also pay in store at time of collection.

Normal business hours

Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm

We are closed on public holidays

Accepted payment methods
  • Direct bank transfer
  • Card payment over the phone (Mastercard & Visa only)
  • Eftpos payment in store (Mastercard & Visa only)

We typically have a standardized pricing structure for calibrations

  • Most of the time we can provide a quote/estimate even without seeing the instrument in person.
  • Some instruments may require an inspection prior to formally quoting
  • Be aware a quote is only an estimate, the quote may need a variance after we have inspected or even begun the calibration procedure, for example if we find damage or faults with the instrument that were not expected and not within the initial scope of the job.
  • We will contact you with a revised quote before proceeding further where necessary.

We have a minimum fee of $80 +GST, this applies as a minimum inspection fee and also a minimum calibration attempt fee for any instrument processed through our facility.

  • Instruments that fail a calibration are generally still chargeable up to the full quoted price, we may at our discretion charge a lesser fee depending how much time and effort was spent working on the instrument.
  • For failed instruments if possible we may be able to offer a repair or replacement
  • Some instruments may carry a larger minimum fee, for example in cases where we need to send the instrument to a 3rd party for assessment, in these cases before moving forward we will quote an elevated minimum fee to cover the associated freight costs and 3rd party assessment fees.

Typical internal flow of a calibration

Typically, the whole calibration process is completed within 1 week.

  • This does vary and depends on various factors, but more often than not we are actually quicker.
  • Your instrument will go through various stages during a typical calibration, we are efficient at moving it between various stages in the process but sometimes delays can happen, we will inform you if we expect any kind of delay.
  • Some calibrations may be sent to a 3rd party partner or supplier, in which case they will carry a longer than our standard turnaround time. We do, however, strive to provide the very best and accurate estimate of turnaround time at time of quoting.

For expedited ‘same day’ or ‘next day’ service, Zedflo is the best calibration service to look to!

We are always busy and do have a constant stream of work in our laboratory, instruments are usually worked on in the order they are received, and then in order of confirmed approval to proceed with quote, but for a fee your instrument can jump the queue when you require a fast turn around.

The fee will vary, and is subject to availability, but as a typical guide:

  • Next business day turn around add 30% to the normal fee
  • Same day (next on bench) turn around add 50% to the normal fee

Other Calibrations:

We can calibrate various other instruments too, it doesn’t have to be Metrel or Additel – below is a current list of products we are capable of calibrating, if you have something not on this list, please make an enquiry.

The Metrel Current Clamp Meters available at Zedflo are engineered to perform a wide array of measurements including AC and DC voltage, AC current, frequency, resistance, continuity, capacitance, and diode testing. These features make our clamp meters an indispensable tool in various electrical measurement applications.

Calibration is vital to maintaining the accuracy and reliability of clamp meters. Over time and with regular use, the precision of these meters may drift, which can affect the accuracy of measurements. Regular calibration ensures that the meters continue to provide precise readings and remain reliable in their performance. The calibration process typically involves verifying the meter’s output by comparing current value of it with a known standard, adjusting the settings if discrepancies are found, and testing the meter across various ranges to ensure consistency in performance.

The importance of clamp meter calibration extends beyond just ensuring measurement accuracy—it is also crucial for operational safety. Clamp meters are frequently used to measure current in high voltage and power circuits. Accurate measurements from clamp meters are vital to avoid electrical hazards and ensure the safe operation of electrical systems.

Zedflo offers a variety of clamp meters, each tailored for specific measurement needs. Models like the MD 9210 and MD 9226 are lower cost units perfect for applications that have AC/DC current  and require measuring up to 600 A. The MD 9225, MD 9226, MD 9231 and MD 9236 meters provide extensive capabilities including voltage, current, and temperature measurements. For more complex analyses of both sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal signals, the MD 9240 and MD 9250 are equipped with advanced features. The MD 9273, a specialised leakage clamp TRMS meter, stands out with its exceptional accuracy and power function measurement capabilities.

Zedflo not only supplies these high-quality clamp meters but also offers professional calibration services to ensure that your instruments perform optimally. Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, clamp meters require regular calibration to maintain accuracy and reliability in measurements. Calibration ensures that the clamp meter continues to provide accurate readings, which is essential for safety and efficiency in electrical measurements.

Meter calibration can be performed using several methods, depending on the specific requirements and the type of meter. Common methods include comparison against a known standard or calibrated device, electronic simulation, and using precision resistance boxes for resistance measurements.

To calibrate the value of a current meter such as a clamp meter, you typically use a calibrated current source to provide a known current. The meter’s reading is then compared to the known current, and adjustments are made to the meter’s settings to correct any discrepancies.

The accuracy of a clamp meter jaws an ammeter can vary depending on the model and its condition. Typically, clamp meters are highly accurate, but they must be regularly calibrated to maintain this accuracy, especially when used in critical measurements or in environments that can affect their performance.
