Why Calibrate?

The successful operation of any process depends on the accuracy of each instrument in the control loop. It is essential that sensors in a system are properly calibrated for the entire loop perform reliably. This requires suitable calibration methods to be used, trained personnel, and metrological traceability being maintained. Choosing the right calibration laboratory can be as important for lifetime accuracy and reliability of an instrument as selecting the right equipment in the first place.

We have a few options you can choose from:

Complete one of the options from ‘How to organize a calibration?’

You can send us your instrument, or drop it into us during business hours

If urgent, let us know and we can offer an expedited service for an additional fee

Once the instrument arrives we will send you a formal quotation for your approval. (or seek approval in person)

You can contact us at any time for a status update

After your approval we will perform the quoted works.

Standard turn around is 1 week.

This will vary with work loads but we are often faster than that, calibrations are typically worked on in order of receival/approval

When completed we will send you an invoice for payment.

If you are on a ‘30 day trade account’ then we will process as per your PO or agreement.

After payment is cleared (or PO is processed for account customers), we will inform you that the goods can be collected, or if you have opted for shipping we will typically dispatch same or next business day.

You can also pay in store at time of collection.

Normal business hours

Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm

We are closed on public holidays

Accepted payment methods
  • Direct bank transfer
  • Card payment over the phone (Mastercard & Visa only)
  • Eftpos payment in store (Mastercard & Visa only)

We typically have a standardized pricing structure for calibrations

  • Most of the time we can provide a quote/estimate even without seeing the instrument in person.
  • Some instruments may require an inspection prior to formally quoting
  • Be aware a quote is only an estimate, the quote may need a variance after we have inspected or even begun the calibration procedure, for example if we find damage or faults with the instrument that were not expected and not within the initial scope of the job.
  • We will contact you with a revised quote before proceeding further where necessary.

We have a minimum fee of $80 +GST, this applies as a minimum inspection fee and also a minimum calibration attempt fee for any instrument processed through our facility.

  • Instruments that fail a calibration are generally still chargeable up to the full quoted price, we may at our discretion charge a lesser fee depending how much time and effort was spent working on the instrument.
  • For failed instruments if possible we may be able to offer a repair or replacement
  • Some instruments may carry a larger minimum fee, for example in cases where we need to send the instrument to a 3rd party for assessment, in these cases before moving forward we will quote an elevated minimum fee to cover the associated freight costs and 3rd party assessment fees.

Typical internal flow of a calibration

Typically, the whole calibration process is completed within 1 week.

  • This does vary and depends on various factors, but more often than not we are actually quicker.
  • Your instrument will go through various stages during a typical calibration, we are efficient at moving it between various stages in the process but sometimes delays can happen, we will inform you if we expect any kind of delay.
  • Some calibrations may be sent to a 3rd party partner or supplier, in which case they will carry a longer than our standard turnaround time. We do, however, strive to provide the very best and accurate estimate of turnaround time at time of quoting.

For expedited ‘same day’ or ‘next day’ service, Zedflo is the best calibration service to look to!

We are always busy and do have a constant stream of work in our laboratory, instruments are usually worked on in the order they are received, and then in order of confirmed approval to proceed with quote, but for a fee your instrument can jump the queue when you require a fast turn around.

The fee will vary, and is subject to availability, but as a typical guide:

  • Next business day turn around add 30% to the normal fee
  • Same day (next on bench) turn around add 50% to the normal fee

Ensuring the accuracy of your earth tester equipment is paramount. This equipment measures the resistance of the earth to electrical currents. This is vital for maintaining the safety and efficiency of electrical systems. Calibration of this device is not merely a routine task but a crucial aspect of ensuring its reliability and accuracy. Allow us to explore the intricacies of Earth Tester Calibration and why it is indispensable for your operations.

The calibration process is essential for verifying that the tester measures earth resistance correctly, which is crucial for assessing the integrity of grounding systems in electrical installations. Over time, the accuracy of these testers can drift due to various factors such as environmental conditions and usage frequency. Hence, regular calibration is necessary to maintain their precision.

In the realm of electrical testing, accuracy is non-negotiable. Inaccurate readings can lead to incorrect assessments of grounding systems, potentially resulting in unsafe electrical installations. Regular calibration of Earth Resistance Testers ensures that the measurements are reliable, helping to prevent electrical hazards and ensuring compliance with safety standards. At Zedflo Australia, we recognise the significance of precise calibration, which is why we offer top-notch calibration services that adhere to the highest standards.

At Zedflo Australia, our calibration process is meticulously designed to ensure the utmost accuracy. Our high-spec calibration laboratory, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, allows us to perform calibrations with a level of precision that is among the best in Australia. We follow a comprehensive procedure that includes:

  1. Initial Inspection: Before calibration begins, we conduct a thorough inspection of the Earth Resistance Tester to identify any visible defects or issues.
  2. Calibration Measurements: Using high-precision reference instruments which are calibrated to ISO/IEC 17025 NATA standards, the calibration is performed.  This process involves simulating various resistance values to ensure the device responds accurately across its entire range.
  3. Adjustment: Where applicable and possible, basic adjustments are included.  We adjust the tester to correct any accuracy deviations.
  4.  After adjustment ‘as left’ results: If an adjustment was carried out, we provide two sets of results. An ‘as found’ prior to adjustment and a second set of results ‘as left’ after adjustment.
  5. Certification: Once the calibration process is complete, we provide a detailed calibration certificate. This document records the calibration results and attests to the accuracy of the Earth Resistance Tester.

Zedflo Australia stands out for its commitment to quality and precision. Our NATA-accredited calibration services are a testament to our dedication to maintaining the highest standards. Here are a few reasons why you should choose Zedflo for your calibration needs:

RCD Tester Calibration FAQ

Calibration frequency can depend on several factors, including the manufacturer’s recommendations, the frequency of use, and the environmental conditions where the tester is used.

Annual calibration is recommended, but more frequent calibration may be necessary for testers used heavily or in harsh conditions.

Signs that your RCD tester may need calibration include inconsistent or suspect readings, physical damage to the tester, a failed self-test (if applicable), or exposure to environmental extremes.

Failing to calibrate an RCD tester can lead to undetected faulty RCDs, increased risk of electric shock or fire, non-compliance with safety regulations, and potential legal and financial repercussions.
